Tuesday is easily the worst day of the week. So this serious article about The Swedish Chef was a great way to start the day.

Autotune. Hide ya kids, hide ya wife + DAYUM!
There is a guy on the Internet who goes to different food establishments and reviews food and puts his reviews online. His handle is "Dayum Drops" and he is pretty hilarious. Recently I came across one of his reviews that was thrown through autotune, as the infamous "Bed Intruder" song from a while back was. Just to refresh your memory, here is Antoine Dodson, original version, then autotune.

Back to Dayum drops, same guys who autotuned Antoine did it to Dayum.

One Less Sweathog
Shocking-- a second Sweathog has died in 2012. It is devastating that we are down to only one Golden Girl, but at least those ladies were in my grandparents' age bracket. The Sweathogs aren't much older than my parents. Only Freddie Boom Boom Washington and Vinnie Barbarino remain.
I find the Welcome Back, Kotter theme song oddly comforting. Off to listen to it again.

Oh Yeah, We Have a Blog
I've basically taken a month off from blogging. What less taxing activity could there be than jotting down a few sentences a day? I have problems.
I just checked the blog for the first time in weeks and saw that The Dude has been posting now and then. Thanks for keeping things afloat, bro. The post about the old dog who is rocked to sleep each night in the lake to soothe his arthritis nearly made me cry. I'm sensitive because of all of the new-mother hormones coursing through me. Or I'm just emotionally unbalanced, which seems more likely since my new baby is a kitten rather than a child. Four-month-old Neville came home last night (with the greatly appreciated assistance of my uncle) after being neutered. I thought he would be spent from the surgery and the stress of the move, but he was bouncing off the walls after just a few hours. Apparently kittens have quite a bit of energy.
Neville is named after Neville Longbottom. I committed to the Harry Potter naming scheme with Luna and now that I am becoming an animal hoarder, I am nearly able to recreate the photo below with feline substitutes. My ginger boy Weasley covers both Ron and Ginny and Luna and Neville are obvious matches. I'm still missing Harry and Hermione, but there's time. I'm on the lookout for a cat with a lightning bolt on his forehead.

Time to get into shape
My buddy does personal training on the side and is headed over today to take me through a track workout. Sprints, jogging, intervals, etc will be happening. 55% chance I puke or drop dead from a heart attack, so wanted to drop one last blog just in case.

I need a dog
Just earlier tonight I was giving The Boss and Herself a hard time about their pets and the accidents/issues the pets have caused them. Pets can be a bit destructive at times and cause some monetary loses, but since I have never had a pet on my own, I don't think the same way. I enjoy all (most) of my immediate family's pets, especially Sophie and Luna, so I feel like I can quasi understand and relate, but I'm definitely wrong and realize it when I make comments like that to them.
Fast forward to 2 hours later and I'm up still awake in my hotel room unable to sleep and come across this picture and this caption/article and felt like a bit of a dink and wish I could have taken my pet joking back and apologize. This picture and caption are pretty cool and make me wish I had a dog. Not much experience with dogs, but it seems to me that they worship their owner and always try to please their owners for most of their lives until they are too old and sick to do so, so its nice of this guy to pay his dog one back. I think the picture and story would have been a bit more heartfelt if this guy didn't look like Brent Spiner (Data from Star Trek The Next Generation, sans make-up, plus ponytail).
"This (is) 19-year-old (Schoep) being cradled in his father's arms last night in Lake Superior. (Schoep) falls asleep every night when he is carried into the lake. The buoyancy of the water soothes his arthritic bones. Lake Superior is very warm right now, so the temp of the water is perfect. I was so happy I got to capture this moment for John. By the way, John rescued Shoep as an 8 month old puppy, and he's been by his side through many adventures."
"We all know dog is man's best friend but for Schoep, a 19-year-old pooch in Wisconsin, man is dog's best friend too. The aging pooch has bad arthritis and every evening his owner, John Unger, takes him into Lake Superior to soothe him, cradling the elderly dog in his arms as he rocks him to sleep. The water is therapeutic for the dog's aching bones, Unger says. The Wisconsin man rescued Schoep nearly 20 years ago and the two have been together ever since."

Hot as balls + concert time
Heat and humidity have been dominating the greater Boston area for 2 days now. I'd say overall this has been one of the hottest summers in recent memories. As the only member in my immediate family without Central AC, I feel bad for myself on hot days like this and feel like a hero when I venture into the 90 kitchen or bathroom.
Tonight I'm headed to see my favorite band, 311, in concert for the 2nd time in a week. I will also be seeing them Monday night down in CT, which coincides with my work trip down there. 311 is a combination of rock, reggae, rap and blues. I'll post 3 songs that show their sound variation.
Sick Tight - rock/rap:
Rub A Dub - reggae/pop:
Sometimes Jacks Rule the Realm - acoustic/alt rock

Pet owners + Boston
Great quote I came across today:
"When I see someone bagging up their dog's shit I like to make it awkward by licking my lips & moaning, "Mmm oh yeah. That's it. Uh huh."

Donde esta El Dude?
Been MIA on the blog due to work and more importantly, recently rejoining Facebook after a 3 year hiatus. I can't lie, after being on FB 3 weeks, I am very obsessed with it and up to 50 friends (my original limit going into it a few weeks back). FB is quasi addictive and I enjoy changing up my cover photo and profile photo on a weekly basis. I also enjoy inundating my "friends" on there with my music preferences and selections. Good times. I'll try to step up the blogging next week.
